All characters you have unlocked via Steam will be unlocked on the PTB, including any new character(s) introduced in this update.
If DLC content has been unlocked via a platform other than Steam (including the in-game Store), this will not be automatically unlocked in the PTB. This content can be unlocked with the provided Auric Cells.
When accessing a character's Bloodweb, the character will be automatically set to Level 50 and Prestige 3, unlocking their perks to Tier 3, as well as any items that would regularly be obtained during this process.
All offerings, items, and add-ons will be pre-loaded with 99 units available.
12,500 Auric Cells and 1 million Bloodpoints will be given on each new PTB version, available to explore Outfits and Characters in the Store.
Added Custom Match options to enable/disable this feature.
Unhook Protections Update
Survivors that are unhooked or unhook themselves receive Unhook Protections for 30 seconds, which include:
10% Haste status effect
Endurance status effect
Elusive status effect (new status effect that hides grunts of pain, aura, scratch marks, and pools of blood)
The Survivor makes no sounds (coughing, vomiting, etc.)
Immunity to AFK crows
The Survivor will see the Killer's aura within 32 meters for 10 seconds
The Survivor is still susceptible to attacks and powers.
These effects linger for 3 seconds after being healed for a full health state.
These effects are lost when performing a Conspicuous Action.
These effects are disabled when all generators are completed, except for the 10% Haste and Endurance status effects, which will only last 10 seconds.
Dev note: We've reduced the Killer aura reveal duration to limit a Survivor's ability to plan aggressive saves while under the effects of Unhook Protections. Additionally, we've removed the No Collision effect from the Unhook Protections to prevent Survivors from phasing ahead of the Killer to use their Unhook Protections aggressively. We will be closely monitoring these during the PTB and look forward to the feedback!
Unique Hook Bonuses
When hooking a Survivor that is different than the last hooked Survivor, the Killer gains the following:
Bloodlust (Tier 1) for 15 seconds
This bonus is reset when entering a chase
This bonus is disabled when all generators are completed.
A 10% Bloodpoint multiplier on the match score at the end of the trial
Dev note: In the previous PTB, the Killer bonuses were complex and had many layers, they also made Killer gameplay very linear: hook → kick gen → down next survivor → rinse & and repeat. To retain player agency and the unexpected moments, we've simplified the bonuses to only one: gaining Bloodlust. Why Bloodlust? Because Haste stacked with Killer powers, which made stronger killers even stronger, widening the gap between them and weaker killers. Reusing Bloodlust means that Killers who use their power (Nurse, Ghoul, etc.) will lose the bonus, while Killers who are typically use their Basic Attack more, will keep it for the full duration. We've also removed the penalties from the previous PTB in the spirit of keeping player choice an important factor in how the game unfolds.
Perks
The following perks have been updated. See the Perk Updates sections below for more details:
Killer: Furtive Chase
Survivor: Babysitter, Borrowed Time, Breakdown, Off the Record, Wicked
Self-Recovery
After being downed by the Killer, the Resolve Bar appears.
The Resolve Bar takes 120 seconds to fill. Progress does not reset between downs.
The Resolve Bar fills 33% faster for each additional Survivor currently in the Dying State.
Once the Resolve Bar is full, the Survivor gains the ability to pick themselves up from the Dying State for the rest of the match. (Note: The Survivor must fully recover each time.)
Added a custom game setting to disable this feature.
Dev note: To better target the extreme cases, we've increased the base time taken to fill the Resolve Bar and added a stacking speed bonus for each additional Survivor in the Dying State. This will make the mechanic more lenient in matches with little to no slugging, and cause it to kick in sooner in matches with a lot of slugging.
Dying State
Crawling speed increases over time when left in the Dying State, from 0.7m/s to 1.05m/s.
Dev note: The ability to recover while crawling in the previous PTB made crawling away always the right choice. This made it difficult for the Killer to find and hook Survivors who were only slugged briefly. We've removed this from the base kit so Survivors must choose between staying still and recovering, or crawling away so the Killer cannot find them.
Perks
The following perk has been updated. See the Perk Updates sections below for more details:
Survivor: Tenacity
Quality of Life
The Resolve Bar is now visible to other Survivors while hooked.
Dev note: To help bridge the information gap between players using voice chat and those who aren't, we've added the Resolve Bar to the HUD. This will help Survivors determine if the Killer is camping and plan their next move accordingly.
Balance
The Anti-Facecamp meter now fills faster based on how long the Killer stays near the hook:
0-10 seconds: 1x speed
10-20 seconds: 2x speed
>20 seconds: 4x speed
Note: This multiplier only accumulates when the Killer is considered camping (the meter is gaining progress). The multiplier resets when the Survivor is unhooked.
Decreased the base fill rate of the Anti-Facecamp meter by roughly 50% to compensate.
Increased the range of the Anti-Facecamp zone to 20 meters (was 16).
Hooking a Survivor now applies a 7 second grace period to all hooked Survivors (was only the last hooked Survivor).
Dev note: To make the Anti-Facecamp mechanic fairer to both sides, we've reduced the base fill rate and added the time the Killer remains near the hook as a modifier. This gives Killers who are not camping more freedom to pass by a hook (particularly in cramped spaces like hallways) without worrying about the meter filling and giving the Survivor a free escape. This also means that Survivors who are being camped for extended periods gain the ability to unhook themselves slightly earlier.
Decreased the time for crows to appear to 80/100/120 seconds (was 120/140/190)
Dev note: Following the release of the updated AFK crow system, we increased the time it took to gain crows. This was much too generous, allowing for Survivors to avoid crows too easily. We're dialing back the values a little bit to a middle ground between the original values and the live values.
The Shape
Slaughtering Strike's camera controls are now identical to regular camera controls.
The Cenobite
Survivors with the Endurance status effect cannot be restrained by a Possessed Chain.
Dev note: The ability to bind Survivors who were just unhooked and under the Endurance status effect could feel quite oppressive. This change aims to make the Possessed Chain less effective at targeting recently Unhooked Survivors.
The Skull Merchant
Increased the Drone Rotation speed to 105 degrees/second. (was 95 degrees/second)
Increased the Hindered status effect from getting scanned to 10%. (was 8%)
Decreased the Deploy Drone cooldown to 7 seconds. (was 10 seconds)
Decreased the Undetectable duration after deploying a Drone to 6 seconds. (was 8 seconds)
Removed the fast vault immunity to Scan Lines
For every 2.5 seconds spent standing underneath a Drone, the Survivor gains 1 Lock On. (was instant)
Decreased Killer detection range for the Drone. (now only rises when colliding directly with Skull Merchant)
Dev note: Skull Merchant has dropped fairly significantly in terms of Kill Rate and lethality. These buffs aim to make her drones a bigger threat and bring up her a little bit. Additionally, we've decreased the cooldown to deploying drones, and consequently decreased the duration of Undetectable to keep some downtime between her Undetectable status effect. When standing underneath a Drone, Survivors would get instant Lock On, which felt like a bug whenever it happened. The gradual increase of Lock On will feel more natural and provide feedback to the Survivor that something bad is happening to them. Lastly, we reduced the Drone's sensitivity to their mistress, to make sure they are always ready to scan Survivors during chases in tight spaces and don't ascend unintendly.
Killer addon updates
Original Pain (Cenobite):
When a Survivor breaks free from a Possessed Chain, reveal their aura for 8 seconds. (Rework)
Soma Family Photo (Singularity):
Slipstreaming a Survivor inflicts the Hindered status effect for 6 seconds. (was 3 seconds)
Inflicts the Deep Wound status effect if the Survivor is injured. (Removed)
Dev note: Both of these addons were notorious for their ability to disable the Endurance Status Effect Survivors get when they are Unhooked. These changes aim to remove this ability to bypass the protection post-Unhook.
Killer perk updates
Furtive Chase:
Whenever your Obsession is hooked, gain 1 token, up to 3/4/5.
For each token, decrease your Terror Radius by 10%.
When your Obsession is Unhooked, the Obsession transfers to the rescuer.
Dev note: With the Bloodlust bonus offered for Unique Hooks, the synergy with Furtive Chase was higher than we would have wanted. We've changed Furtive Chase to its previous iteration of affecting the Terror Radius, without the downsides that it had.
Survivor perk updates
Babysitter:
After Unhooking a Survivor, see the Survivor and the Killer's aura for 20/25/30 seconds. (Rework)
Borrowed Time:
Survivors you Unhook gain the ability to fully recover from the Dying State for the next 60/80/100 seconds. (Rework)
Breakdown:
After you are Unhooked, the hook breaks for 90 seconds. (was 180 seconds)
After you are Unhooked, increase the speed at which you are healed by 100% for 30/60/90 seconds. (Rework)
Off the Record:
Removed the Endurance status effect.
Increased active duration to 60/70/80 seconds. (was 30/35/40)
Wicked:
Your self-unhook attempts in the basement always succeed.
When you are Unhooked from the basement, gain 30/40/50% healing progress.
Anytime you are Unhooked, suppress the Loud Noise notification.
Dev note: The Survivor perks listed above are all related to Unhook gameplay. We saw an opportunity to update them to make sure they complement the Unhook Protections and increase their value proposition.
Conviction:
Changed the perk to require specifically healing another Survivor to prevent infinite looping with Plot Twist.
Tenacity:
Readded the ability to recover while crawling.
Survivor item addon updates
Anti-Hemorrhagic Syringe:
Removed the heal over time effect.
Removes Exhaustion on use. (Rework)
Consumes the med-kit on Secondary Action use.
Styptic Agent:
Removed the Endurance status effect.
No longer consumes the med-kit on Secondary Action use.
Increases the efficiency when healing yourself by 15%. (Rework)
Dev note: These Med-kit addons have been very strong for a very long time, extending chases that would have ended much sooner. We're making these changes to dial back the strength of med-kits when paired with these addons.
Chase Start
Increased Bloodpoint amount to 500 (was 400)
Hooking Survivor
Increased Bloodpoint amount to 750 (was 500)
Survivor First Hook
Increased Bloodpoint amount to 750 (was 200)
Survivor Second Hook
Increased Bloodpoint amount to 250 (was 200)
Survivor Sacrifice Success
Increased Bloodpoint amount to 500 (was 200)
Dev note: With all the changes coming to the Killer role alongside the Tunneling Reduction and Slugging Reduction updates, we thought it was the right time to raise a few Score Events to encourage Killers to start chases and spread first Hooks at the start of a match.

Hey there folks!
It's no secret that maps are an integral part of the Dead by Daylight experience. Not only do they set the tone of each Trial, but they play an important role in the balance between Killer and Survivor. We're always looking for ways to improve our maps and appreciate the experiences you bring to the table, so who better to help shape that than you!
Today, we kicked off a survey focused on the game's maps and we'd love your feedback! Simply open up your in-game mail and click the survey link within to share your thoughts with us. As a heads-up, the survey will run until October 6th at 10:00 AM ET.
Do you enjoy the atmosphere and aesthetic? Are the maps delivering on the scare factor? Does the gameplay feel fair and balanced?
This survey digs into those questions and more, providing valuable insights to the team to help make adjustments and improve our maps in the future. If you're able to take a couple minutes to complete it and share your thoughts with us, we'd really appreciate it! Thanks for always bringing your unbridled passion to the table when it comes to feedback.
See you in the fog!

We want to thank you all for participating in yet another Dead by Daylight Design A Cosmetic Contest! This year, we received close to 6,000 submissions, full of amazing Badges, Banners, Killer and Survivor cosmetics. Our team was really taken aback by this community's continued expression of passion and skill!
As a reminder, the winning designs will be added to the game over the span of several future releases – but don’t worry, we’ll be sharing a Roadmap with you soon on when you can expect them!
The concepts themselves will also go through some changes before taking their final form in-game, and for that, we will also be sharing with you within the next few weeks what those changes are to keep you and the artists informed. This is to make sure they fit the narrative tone, character model, and technical requirements, with the end goal being to keep the original design idea intact while making it possible to add it to the game.

Starting with the 9.2.0 PTB, we are changing the way users connect to the PTB, simplifying the process we use to port saves over to test builds:

SPECIAL ABILITY: CORPOREAL WEAVE
Press Ability button 1 to shift between Body and Head Form.

Head Form has a 40 meter Terror Radius. It is slightly faster but cannot break pallets and is not granted the Bloodlust status effect.
KILLER EFFECT: LEECHED
Hitting a Survivor with Intestinal Whip and Regurgitate adds to their Leech Meter. When the meter is filled, the Survivor is afflicted with Leeched I.

Leeched II: The Survivor is afflicted with Broken. If healthy, they become injured.
SPECIAL ABILITY: INTESTINAL WHIP

Survivors afflicted with Leeched can be damaged by Intestinal Whip.

When the cursed generator is repaired, the next farthest generator is cursed.
NEW SURVIVOR PERKS:

These effects are disabled when all generators are completed, except for the Haste and Endurance status effects.
The Survivor is still susceptible to attacks and powers.

When a Survivor is hooked, the hook's status is obscured for the Killer:
The Killer cannot see the hook's status in the HUD
The Killer can no longer see the hook's aura

Breaking a pallet or damaging a Survivor removes this bonus

The 9.2.0 Update arrives next week, so let’s check out the notable gameplay changes you can expect from this Public Test Build. Plus, stay tuned for next week's PTB Patch Notes where we’ll share the precise values that are changing for each of the topics below!
Read on for all the details:

If a Survivor is left in the Dying State for a total of 90 seconds during a match, they gain the ability to pick themselves up after fully recovering.
Added the option to enable or disable this mechanic in Custom Games.
Note: Perks that enable you to recover from the Dying State - like Boon: Exponential - will continue to function as before, without needing to meet this requirement.
Gradually increases crawling speed for Survivors who are left in the Dying State.
Added the ability for Survivors to recover while crawling. Recovery now occurs passively with no need to hold a button.
Updated several Survivor and Killer perks to account for these changes.
[p align="center"]DEV NOTE: When it comes to slugging, we know it can be frustrating if you're on the receiving end of it too often or for too long, but we also know that sometimes it's the smart move. This updated system acknowledges this, allowing the Killer to slug occasionally when they feel like it's the right call, but will eventually kick in and swing in the Survivor's favour if slugging is used excessively.
A big part of this is also about making the experience of being slugged more pleasant (as much as being slugged can be, at least). The recovery changes and crawling speed will give you a bit more agency when downed so you aren't just holding a button and waiting for someone to come save you.

When a Survivor is hooked, their hook status is hidden from the Killer. When they’re unhooked, there is no notification and their hook status isn’t revealed immediately.
This is disabled once all generators are completed.
Unhooked Survivors gain the following effects for a limited time:
Haste, Endurance, and Elusive (see below) status effects.
No collision with other players (both Killer and Survivor).
Immunity to Killer Instinct and sees the Killer’s aura nearby.
These effects are lost when the affected Survivor perform a Conspicuous Action.
All these effects (except Haste and Endurance) are disabled once all generators are completed.
Added a unique effect to the Killer hook state UI that indicates the last Survivor they hooked.
After completing a “unique hook” (the same Survivor is not hooked consecutively), Killers get the following benefits:
Bonus damage for the next generator kick.
Temporary Haste status effect.
Temporarily reveals Survivors (think basekit BBQ & Chili) that have less or equal hook states to the hooked Survivor.
These effects are slightly lessened for The Blight, The Dark Lord, The Ghoul, The Hillbilly, and The Nurse.
These effects are disabled once all generators are completed.
Added new effects that disincentivize tunneling:
If a Survivor dies before 6 total hook states, all remaining Survivors gain a repair speed bonus for the rest of the Trial.
If the Survivor that was last hooked is Sacrificed or Killed, generators cannot be regressed or blocked.
Added the option to enable or disable these new mechanics in Custom Games.
Updated several Survivor and Killer perks to account for these changes.
DEV NOTE: It’s no secret that tunneling can be seen as an efficient way to play for Killers. While this can be true, it’s also true that the results of this can be frustrating for Survivors, leading to Trials ending too quickly for some, while leaving others to fend for themselves in a match that is now much more difficult.
The intention here is for both roles to feel the benefits and incentives that come from spreading hook states. On the one end, Survivors have better opportunities to evade and reset after unhooks, while also limiting those tough situations where losing a Survivor too quickly causes things to go south quickly and snowball. On the other end, Killers are able to apply more map pressure to push back against efficient teams, covering ground post-hook and strengthening gen regression.

Added a new status effect that silences grunts of pain and suppresses Survivor aura, pools of blood, and scratch marks.
DEV NOTE: To start, we’ll be using this new status effect as part of the tunnelling reduction update, but plan to integrate this into relevant existing perks down the road to make their descriptions more streamlined. Arguably the easiest way to look at this is a Survivor version of Undetectable, in that when it’s active, you know you’re in stealth mode.

Updated “The Tomes” menu to feature new Tomes and accompanying lore alongside each Chapter release.
New lore is unlocked each week within the active Tome.
DEV NOTE: Ever since we reworked the Tome, we’ve seen how much you’ve yearned for more lore. We’re happy to share that beginning with 9.2.0, lore is back! While previously, lore was tied to challenges, we want all players to have a chance to immerse themselves in these stories, so we’ve shifted to a weekly unlock, not linked to any quest completion.

Replaced “Evil Within” with two modes that can be toggled with a button press:
Stalker Mode: 4.2m/s movement speed, Undetectable, and can stalk Survivors.
Pursuer Mode: 4.6m/s movement speed, 24m Terror Radius, increased vault speed, bonuses to lunge range, break speed, and stun recovery, and cannot stalk Survivors.
Once the stalk meter is full, Evil Incarnate mode can be triggered at will, granting the following effects for a limited time (note: Survivors no longer become Exposed):
4.6m/s movement speed, 40m Terror Radius and an increased vault speed.
Unlocks Slaughtering Strike ability:
Hold the power button to charge this ability, reducing movement speed.
Press the attack button while charging to quickly lunge forward, adjusting your angle as you move. The length of the lunge depends on charge time.
If a Survivor enters the Killer’s attack range while lunging, they are knocked into the Dying State.
This ability can also be used to destroy pallets.
Unlocks the ability to grab and kill or perform a regular Mori on Survivors who would die the next time they are hooked.
Adjusted some of the mechanics of stalking:
Removed the limited pool of stalk points per Survivor.
Reduced stalk range to 32m and removed distance modifier.
Moving while stalking has increased movement speed but incurs a reduced stalk rate.
Reworked his add-ons.
DEV NOTE: By moving away from linear “Evil Within” tiers, we wanted to give players more tools they can use to adapt to each Trial’s unique situations, while keeping the core of what makes him “The Shape”.
Slaughtering Strike makes for a high-threat offensive attack, offering up an insta-down opportunity with an extended lunge that's particularly effective in loops and for ripping through pallets quickly.
Understanding his kit has changed quite a lot, we’ve done a pass on nearly all his add-ons, reworking many of them to offer more unique effects. In particular for those who prefer his old playstyle, Fragrant Tuft of Hair will change Evil Incarnate to function like old Myers, offering an Exposed effect and no Slaughtering Strike. Stay tuned for patch notes for the full details on these changes!

Increased activation time of the Afterpiece Antidote.
Increased how long the Afterpiece Tonic’s Hindered effect lingers after leaving smoke.
DEV NOTE: We’ve heard your feedback that The Clown’s easier-to-activate Haste can make instigating and maintaining chases less interactive for Survivors. That, coupled with nerfs to his purple bottles has pushed players towards this frustrating tactic. To make both bottles feel like viable options without being too oppressive, we’ve adjusted the values of their most impactful qualities to strike a balance between pre-9.1.0 values and Live values.

Increased the additional time added to Weakened when injured by a UVX projectile.
Increased movement speed recovery after teleporting.
Increased camera vertical range.
Adjusted several add-ons.
DEV NOTE: The Unknown is largely considered to be fun to play as and against, and we want to preserve that while adapting to the current state of gameplay. We’ve buffed the UVX slightly, while also taking what we learned from The Animatronic to allow for orbitals, improving UVX aiming and making for even more fun gameplay.
It’s also likely no surprise that Blurry Photo is the most used add-on for the Unknown, given the importance of speed recovery. To help create an opportunity for more add-on experimentation, we’ve converted a portion of this add-on into a basekit buff, while also doing a pass on other add-ons that are due for some adjustments.

Vampire Form:
Slightly reduced Hellfire cooldown.
Increased total Hellfire pillars by 1.
Reduced Hellfire charge movement speed.
Slightly increased slowdown time after casting Hellfire.
Wolf Form:
Increased Pounce Attack charge time.
Increased Scent Orb spawn time.
Bat Form:
Increased movement friction to make flying easier to control.
Adjusted his add-ons.
DEV NOTE: Vampire Form is slightly less oppressive in short loops where movement slowdown had less of an impact, and toning down Wolf Form’s mobility, which has been outclassing some dash Killers. On the flip side, you’ll find Bat Form easier to control in tighter spaces and can use Hellfire slightly more frequently and reach further with it.

When grabbing a Survivor on the other side of a vault with Kagune Leap, the Survivor is released at the start of The Ghoul’s vault instead of at the end.
DEV NOTE: It’s no secret that it’s been a common pain point for Survivors to be locked in place when hit with a Kagune Leap Grab-Attack across a vault. Survivors shouldn’t have to wait for The Ghoul to finish their vault before being able to move again, so we’ve removed this tech.

Hooking a Survivor now spawns more blood orbs.
DEV NOTE: We understand that with the changes we’re making to address slugging, this will impact The Oni slightly, so we want to mitigate this. By turning hooked Survivors into a greater source of power gauge build-up, The Oni is rewarded with more quickly snowballing power by hooking.

Updated various perks.
DEV NOTE: In addition to the general perk balance updates you can expect each release, we've also made a number of adjustments to account for the new systems coming to DbD this update, specifically relating to slugging and tunneling.
Stay tuned on Wednesday, September 3 for the PTB Live Balance preview on Discord, where we'll dig into the details of these perk changes, and then follow that up with patch notes, where you can find the nitty-gritty numbers.
Until next time...
